Analyzing Performance and Efficiency in Modern Fast Fourier Transform Architechtures

In recent technology, improvements in IC fabrications in the semiconductor industry, and most of the System on Chip integrations and communications systems, the FFT(Fast Fourier Transform)/IFFT(Inverse Fast Fourier Transform) are widely used DSP(Digital Signal Processing) techniques in the design of OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) and MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output). The major applications of FFT/IFFT are wireless, broadband, and data sharing through OFDM systems. This study introduces detailed methods for developing an FFT and IFFT core that is highly effective and designed specifically for applications that are dependent on MIMO-OFDM. In this paper, a comparative study has been done on effective and efficient methods and architecture required for FFT/IFFT, and most of the recent research has introduced mixed-radix or higher-radix methods that are suggested for MIMO and OFDM applications. This was accomplished by using an arithmetic optimization technique for radix-2 butterflies, which significantly decreased the quantity of complex multipliers needed. . In this survey paper on the replacement of the highly energy-demanding complex multipliers featured in the aforementioned radix-2 butterflies featuring high-performance approximation multipliers that have reduced failure rates and the execution of the Fast Fourier transform/inverse Fast Fourier transform model, which incorporates such improved butterflies.
