A Machine Learning Strategy with Hardware Implementation for Harvesting in Floriculture

In human daily life after fulfillment of basic needs of flowers and fragrances has been an essential aspect. Floriculture has become one of the attractive and prospective horticulture sec- tors for business and recreation. This demand of floriculture is all over the globe, but particularly in India due to diversified culture floriculturists’ have excellent scope. Developments in Smart or Precision Agriculture (PA) efficient harvest of crops is possible with high yields. This work is focused to reduce the floriculture related problems like human labour, time consumption, ageing of flowers etc and to provide smart solution. A prototype of an autonomous flower cutting robot has been developed and implemented that will reduce the process time and increase the productivity. A smart solution towards the floriculture harvesting using deep learning approach and image processing is proposed. Results in terms of system design and implementation with functional verification has been presented.
