Research on a New Topology of Asynchronous Excitation Three Stage Brushless Generator Without Rotating Rectifier

The rotating rectifier is an important component achieving brushless conversion for the WRSM (Wound Rotor Synchronous Machine). However, it also serves as a major limitation for increasing speed and power rating. In this paper, a new topology of brushless three-stage generator is proposed, employing asynchronous excitation to eliminate the rotating rectifier. The operational principles and generation characteristics of this generator are investigated. The research proposed in this paper lays the foundation for the utilization of three-stage generator in future electric propulsion aircraft.
