Design Method and Systemic Robustness Evaluation for the Magnetically Levitated Drive System of a Hemocompatibility Assessment Platform

Left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) have been increasingly used to treat heart failure, but still require improvement in hemocompatibility. To develop a device that can isolate each LVAD component for separate testing, a large-gap magnetic-levitated drive system was proposed. In this study, we evaluated the design method of the HAP and robustness of the proposed MagLev drive system and showed robust stability at various rotating speeds at an air gap of 0.175 mm, and up to 45,000 rpm under 5G's of acceleration.
