Optimizing Indoor Plant Care: Monitoring Systems and Reliability Assessment

Horticulture is a relaxing activity that has the potential to reduce stress, yet few individuals possess the time to adequately care for plants and create optimal conditions for their growth and development. Accordingly, this research presents a convenient and practical solution for the modern individual who desires the presence of plants in their domestic environment. This may be for the purpose of reducing anxiety, improving air quality, or simply adding color to the room. The objective of the proposed system is twofold: firstly, to guarantee the appropriate irrigation of the plants, and secondly, to enable the effective monitoring of the surrounding environment. This will provide the user with a comprehensive understanding of the soil and room humidity levels, as well as the temperature of both the soil and the room itself. By identifying the optimal locations for sensor placement, the proposed system will not only ensure regular watering of the plants, but will also provide valuable insights that can assist the owner in identifying potential stressors that may impact the plants' growth and development. A reliability analysis is conducted to ascertain the system's efficacy. An RBD diagram is constructed to delineate the system's structure, and a Markov chain is employed to examine the transitions between its states.
