Integrating Counting and Memory Challenges in Educational Games: The Development of Count and Remember

Educational games have become increasingly prevalent as practical tools to engage students and enhance their learning experiences. The previous study demonstrates the effectiveness of games in strengthening children's cognitive skills. However, there are no further studies regarding games that simultaneously improve counting skills and memory retention. This research addresses this gap by developing a game that integrates these two cognitive domains. “Count and Remember” is a game that provides a comprehensive educational tool designed to aid in developing mathematical and cognitive skills in young learners by combining counting exercises with memory challenges. The game features interactive counting tasks, memory games, a child-friendly interface, progress tracking, and a rewards system. This study employs instructional and user-centered game design principles involving iterative prototyping and student feedback. Initial usability testing indicates that the game is both engaging and educationally effective. The findings suggest that “Count and Remember” is well received by children and considered attractive, fun, and challenging.
