Development of an IoT-Enabled Smart Healthcare Monitoring System for Real-Time Patient Health Surveillance

This paper presents a Smart Healthcare Monitoring System for Real-Time Health Surveillance, which employs advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) to continuously monitor and assess patients' health in real-time. The IoT bridges the digital and physical worlds, offering seamless connectivity anytime, anywhere. The proposed health monitoring system provides healthcare professionals with timely and precise health data, enabling early detection of medical issues and better management of chronic conditions. Various sensors connected to an Arduino UNO microcontroller are used to track patients' health metrics like heart rate, body temperature and ECG data even when patients are not in traditional clinical environments. The health matrices displayed on an LCD screen and then transmitted to an IoT cloud platform via a Wi-Fi module. If any abnormal health changes are detected, an alert or message is sent to the doctor or caretaker. This remote monitoring approach eases the workload on healthcare providers while delivering accurate patient health status information in real-time.
