Wideband Paper-Based Microwave Absorber Using Inkjet Printing

In this paper, a simple, flexible paper-based electromagnetic (EM) absorber is presented. The unit cell of the absorber comprises a hexagonal ring resonator printed on a paper substrate using graphene conductive ink. The lower layer of the unit cell is covered with a copper plate. The substrate and the metallic plate are separated by Foam to enhance the absorption bandwidth. The proposed methodology acts as a low-cost and eco-friendly solution for constructing a flexible microwave absorber. The structure generates a 90% absorption bandwidth spanning from 5.4513.44 GHz, with an overall thickness of 7.275 mm. The design can be used in various scientific and commercial applications, such as stealth technology, due to its wide bandwidth, polarization insensitivity, and good angular stability.
