Closed Loop Cascade Control of High Efficiency High Step-up DC/DC Converter for Grid Connected PV Units

This paper developed a model for a grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system that incorporates a high-efficiency, non-isolated high step-up DC/DC converter, MPPT and Cascade controller. Cascade Controller of a DC/DC converter is presented which this control mechanism maintains output voltage at 400 V DC. Cascade control of a high step-up high efficiency DC/DC converter involves of two or more control loops to regulate the output voltage of the converter more accurately and efficiently. This control strategy is frequently utilized to optimize the performance of converters, especially in applications requiring precise voltage regulation and high efficiency. In this paper we explained how cascade control works in the context of a step-up (boost) DC/DC converter. The proposed control system’s precision in tracking desired signals and efficiently regulating plant process variables-minimizing settling time and overshoot-was verified through a comparative analysis with cascade PI controllers, using MATLAB/Simulink.
