New control method for isolated bi-directional DC/DC converter with BESS and EV applications

This paper presents the design and simulation of an isolated bi-directional DC/DC converter tailored for battery energy storage systems (BESS) and electric vehicle (EV) applications, incorporating a novel control algorithm. The power circuit of the DC/DC converter comprises a two-stage bidirectional configuration. The first stage employs a twoquadrant chopper, while the second stage utilizes a dual active half-bridge as a bidirectional resonant converter. A unique control algorithm, designed to achieve a high conversion ratio and rapid response time, governs the entire converter. Simulation results obtained from MATLAB Simulink demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm.
