Mapping the Scientific Research on Queueing Systems: Trends and Developments

This paper conducts a bibliometric analysis of the QUEUEING SYSTEMS: THEORY AND APPLICATIONS (QUESTA) Journal since its 1986 inclusion in Scopus. Our aim is to identify highly-cited articles, influential authors, popular keywords, leading contributors, and keyword evolution. We utilize co-occurrence, co-citation, and timeline-based analysis with VOS-viewer and R-studio (Biblioshine). Results show QESTA's academic impact has grown progressively. This study aids current and future authors in understanding emerging queueing systems and applications themes. It also informs journal editors on emerging topics and societal contributions. Future research directions are suggested for "sales," "probability distributions," "large deviations," "Markov chains," "stability," "stochastic systems," "stationary distribution," and "heavy traffic" in a scientific manner.
