Exploration of the Relationship between the Six Methods of Forming Chinese Characters in Shuo Wen Jie Zi and AI Deep Learning of Chinese Characters

Shuo Wen Jie Zi, authored by Xu Shen during the Eastern Han Dynasty in China, is the first linguistic dictionary in China to systematically analyze the forms and etymologies of Chinese characters. The book summarizes the formation and usage of Chinese characters into six types: pictographic, indicative, associative compound, phonetic-semantic compound, transformative annotation, and loan characters. It comprehensively sorts out the rules of Chinese character construction and holds immense value for studying the origin and evolution of Chinese characters, providing fundamental theories and methods for research on the knowledge graph of Chinese characters. Currently, many AI models are primarily trained on vast amounts of English data, with relatively limited coverage of Chinese data, leading to insufficient understanding and adaptability of these models to Chinese. Leveraging the rules of Chinese character construction in the Six Methods of Forming Chinese Characters theory from Shuo Wen Jie Zi to establish knowledge graphs and models enables AI to undergo deep self-learning training for Chinese characters. By analyzing the rules of Chinese character construction in the Six Methods theory and combining computational formulas, application strategies for the Six Methods theory in AI deep learning are formed, providing theoretical guidance for AI model computations. The aim is to train AI to deeply learn the rules of Chinese character construction and semantic explanations in Shuo Wen Jie Zi, thereby understanding the cultural concepts and ways of thinking in Chinese contexts. This enables AI software to better grasp the cultural connotations behind Chinese texts when engaging in cross-cultural communication, language translation, and graphical representation of Chinese content, thereby enhancing the accuracy and fluency of cross-cultural communication.
