Enhancing Road Safety with IoT-Based Smart Alert Scheme for Drowsy Driver Recognition

The term "Internet of Things" (IoT) refers to a network that allows various physical items, such as sensors, connecting devices, motherboards, etc., to exchange data amongst themselves without the need for human intervention. On a global scale, drowsy driver identification is perhaps the most important technology for preventing many traffic accidents. The goal is to develop an alert system that can detect when a motorist is becoming too sleepy and take appropriate action when necessary. The human body experiences lethargy for a variety of reasons, but it is a normal occurrence. Accidents may easily happen, therefore it's important to have a reliable alarm system in place. Based on the notion of eye blinking, we calculate the VSP using the EAR and the distance of the eye. This allows us to create a system that alerts for sleepy drivers. Appropriate methods for eye identification also make use of face land mark algorithms. With the use of a Raspberry Pi monitoring system, an IoT module is able to send a warning message to the driver when driver weariness is detected. This message includes the potential effect of a collision, the vehicle's position, and the ability to notify via voice speaker.
