Investigation of the Parameterization Influence in High-Frequency Models for Traction Motors with Hairpin Windings

The transition towards electric-powered mobility has accelerated the application of fast-switching silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductors. Despite their enhanced efficiency, these semiconductors introduce challenges due to high-frequency interference with electric motors, including insulation stress and bearing currents. To address these challenges, high-frequency impedance models for electric machines have been developed. The parameterization of these models is crucial to ensure their accuracy and significance. Most of the existing models in literature rely on impedance measurements or analytical estimations. However, these models often neglect significant factors such as the rotor or its angular dependency, as well as the impact of the current magnitude on the parameterization of the modelling. This paper highlights these influences and examines those through Finite Element simulations or comprehensive impedance measurements.
