Ergodic Capacity Analysis of AmBC-Assisted V2V Communications Over Cascaded Rayleigh Fading

Ambient backscatter communication (AmBC) is considered a novel technology that offers a viable solution for the applications of Internet of Things (IoT), especially where embedded sensors and small devices demand low power for their communication. Due to these characteristics, AmBC be-comes an essential module for the applications of intelligent transportation system (ITS), such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I), etc. Exploiting the advantages of AmBC, this work analyzes the ergodic capacity of AmBC-empowered V2V communication systems. By considering the double-Rayleigh distribution for V2V fading links, we derive the ergodic capacity (EC) expression for the considered system. We leverage the Gauss-chebyshev and Gauss-Laguerre quadrature methods to obtain the accurate EC expression. The numerical and simulation studies verify the accuracy and robustness of our proposed mathematical framework.
