Optimization of initial structure of optical beam expanding system based on particle swarm algorithm

In the design of Gaussian laser emission systems, a beam expander system is often necessary to achieve both long-distance transmission and convergence of the laser beam. The effectiveness of such a beam expander system often hinges on the selected initial structure. In this paper, a new method based on the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to optimize the initial structure of Gaussian laser two-stage beam expansion system is proposed, addressing both volume constraints in practical engineering and the acquisition of optical system parameters for achieving the smallest convergent spot. An optimization example is provided, resulting in the desired Gaussian beam position, the minimum waist radius, and suitable parameters for the beam expander system to fulfill engineering demands. This study offers valuable methodologies and insights for designing and optimizing Gaussian laser emission systems.
