Literature Review: Recognization of Sign Language and Translation Systems

This paper presents a comprehensive literature review on sign language recognition and translation, focusing on recognition of sign language and translating it into understandable text and vice versa. Translating devices act as a medium between sign language users and non-sign language users for understanding each other. This field, despite its significant advancements and profound impact on enhancing communication accessibility, yet it is not widely popular and still out of reach. In this review, we have analyzed up to 31 research papers published between 2010 and 2023 on different platform, discussing the methodologies, techniques, technologies, and models which resulted in successful creation of sign language translation systems. In this review we analyzed the research papers which showed significant results, however we cannot declare these research papers used as perfect, as each had its own weakness and strength. With this in depth review we can understand the most used methods, techniques, and their significances.
