Early Detection of Stem Bleeding in Coconut Trees using Image Processing

In Coconut trees a deadly illness called stem bleeding caused by bacteria called by Thielaviopsis paradoxa results in large financial losses for the industry. To lessen the effects of this illness, early detection and prompt care are essential. Conventional detection techniques mostly rely on labor-intensive, frequently erroneous manual inspection. The novel method for detecting stem bleeding in coconut trees that makes use of image processing techniques is presented in this paper. This method involves capturing high-resolution images of the coconut tree stems and applying sophisticated image processing algorithms to identify early symptoms of the disease. Features such as color changes, variations in texture, and patterns of lesions are extracted from the images and analyzed using machine learning models. These models are then used to accurately differentiate between healthy trees and those affected by stem bleeding. The proposed system evaluates on an extensive dataset of images collected from various coconut plantations, and the results show a high level of accuracy and efficiency in detecting the disease. The findings suggest that this image processing-based approach can significantly enhance the early detection process, allowing farmers to take swift and effective action. Moreover, the technology offers the potential to reduce the reliance on manual labor, thus cutting down labor costs while improving the precision of disease detection. In the long run, this system could play a pivotal role in boosting the sustainability and profitability of coconut farming.
