Rhombic Shaped Photonic Crystal Biosensor for the Detection of Eye Melanoma

This paper presents the design and simulation for the detection of the eye melanoma cancer cell. The proposed design is based on the rhombic shaped structure photonic crystal. For the detection of eye melanoma cancer cells in a sample, a biosensor designed and simulated. The designed rhombic shaped photonic crystal has a hexagonal lattice and holes and a sample to detect cancer and normal cells, For the measurement of the sensor’s performance. It is constructed with silicon in air using the Finite-Difference Time-Domain tool. For the rhombic structure quality factor (Q-factor), sensitivity and full width at half maximum (FWHM) are calculated. The maximum q-factor for the rhombic structure obtained is 1873 and the sensitivity is $655(\mathrm{~nm} /$ RIU), with a resonant wavelength range of 1592 to $1593(\mathrm{~nm})$.
