Impact of Professional Societies on Enhancement of CO-PO Attainment

Outcome based education is an educational framework centred on the explicit achievement of specific learning outcomes. Compared to traditional educational models, OBE entails establishing quantifiable, explicit goals that direct instructional methodologies, curriculum design and assessment technologies. To make sure that students meet the required competencies, evaluations in OBE are tightly matched with learning objectives. Assessment techniques are critical to determining if students in outcome-based education (OBE) have met the required learning objectives. Firstly, direct assessment, in which student achievement is evaluated with actual, observable evidence. For example, Exams, Quizzes, Assignments, Projects, Presentations, Performances, Capstone Projects and Portfolios so on. Secondly, Indirect Assessment, information is gathered that represents how students view their education or how other stakeholders view the skills of their pupils. It offers information about students' experiences and learning environment rather than measuring learning directly. examples are Surveys, Questionnaires, Course Evaluations, Focus Groups and Interviews, Graduate Follow-Up Studies. Direct assessment measures actual student performance, while indirect assessment measures perceptions or reflections on student performance. Both methods are valuable in OBE, with direct assessment providing the most robust evidence of student learning and indirect assessment offering complementary insights that can inform improvements in teaching and learning. This paper introduces the Involvement in Professional bodies like IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and IETE (Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers), as well as student participation in professional activities associated with these organizations, generally falls under direct assessment in Outcome-Based Education (OBE).this results in increase of CO-PO correlation. The results demonstrated that Co attainment is increased from 2.3 to 2.87 Po attainment is increased from 2.58 to 2.69.
