Minimization of Power Using the Power Gating Technique to Design a Twisted Ring Counter

Designing energy-efficient systems, especially for portable and battery-powered devices, requires careful consideration of power optimization in digital circuits. The Multi-Threshold CMOS (MTCMOS) technique is a novel way to minimize power consumption in a Twisted Ring Counter (TRC) that is presented in this paper. Low-threshold voltage transistors are used in the MTCMOS technique to preserve performance during active operation, while high-threshold voltage transistors are utilized to minimize leakage power during idle states. By placing sleep transistors in strategic locations to regulate leakage paths, the suggested design incorporates MTCMOS into the TRC architecture. To reduce dynamic power, clock gating and optimized feedback logic are also used. By integrating MTCMOS, the counter's energy efficiency is improved by striking a balance between power savings and performance. Simulation results show a notable decrease. With little effect on speed or area overhead, leakage power can be reduced by up to 50% compared to traditional TRC designs. This study demonstrates how well the MTCMOS technique works to design power-efficient counters for contemporary low-power applications, such as embedded systems, wearable electronics, and Internet of Things devices. A workable and scalable framework for resolving power issues in digital sequential circuits is offered by the suggested solution.
