Enhancing Grid Connected PV System Performance Through Adaptive PI Control and Improved DC to DC Converter

Integrating advanced converter and control strategies in grid-connected Photovoltaic (PV) systems is vital for improving voltage stability. Hence, this study explores the implementation of an improved Z-source converter (iZSC) combined with Adaptive Proportional-Integral (API) control to enhance the performance of PV -grid systems. The iZSC enables higher voltage boost and improved efficiency, ensuring more effective integration with the grid. The API controller optimizes the energy conversion process, thereby controlling the converter's output voltage to maximize system performance. This system is validated in the MATLAB/Simulink platform. Simulation outcomes are compared with those of other recently used topologies to highlight the advantages of the designed converter. The comparative analysis demonstrates that this converter achieves the highest efficiency and voltage gain, with notable improvements in system performance. These results contribute to the wider adoption of renewable energy technologies, particularly in grid-connected PV systems, by ensuring more efficient and stable operation.
