SMO-Based Field-Oriented Control for Electrically Power-Assisted Bike System

As the world deals with the use of fossil fuels and the urgent issues of energy substitution and environmental protection policies, the significant advancement of electrically power-assisted bikes (E-bikes) offers a helpful solution. This paper introduces an E-Bike test platform with magnetic field-oriented control (FOC) and riding model construction. The goal is to verify various riding states and discuss the power-assisted control strategy of E-bike motors. In addition, the pedal and E-bike motor incorporate control algorithms such as sliding mode observer (SMO) to enhance the control accuracy of the motor at low speeds and mitigate the potential impact of encoder signal errors. The E-bike motor has a field-oriented control strategy to improve operating efficiency and address noise and vibration issues.
