Elliptic Ring Shaped Multiband Printed Monopole Antenna for Railway Applications

In this paper, a compact elliptic ring-shaped printed monopole antenna (PMA) is designed and simulated for Future Railway Mobile Communication Systems (FRMCS). The proposed antenna supports multiple bands to serve various railway applications. It can be integrated on the rail rooftop with a low-profile structure of 160 mm x 65 mm x 1.6mm. The antenna achieved multi-band coverage supporting FRMCS at 1.9 GHZ and other 4G/5G Wi-Fi bands with 7.95 dBi peak gain and return loss of −29.21 dB at 2.00 GHz.
