On Decidability of Existence of Resilient Supervisors Against Covert Sensor-Actuator Attacks*

This work investigates an “exist-for all” computability question of determining whether there exists a resilient supervisor such that there does not exist any covert sensor-actuator attacker that could cause damage infliction on the plant. We propose a sound and complete decision procedure that synthesizes a finite-state structure, named the Resilient Ensemble Bipartite Supervisor (R-EBS), to exactly encode all the resilient supervisors against covert sensor-actuator attacks. Based on the R-EBS, we show the studied problem is decidable.
