Microgrids Energy Demand Optimization: Towards Solar Sustainability in Lebanon and the Region

Solar systems adoption and energy mismatch challenge are making the energy sustainability in developing countries more and more pressing in the presence of malfunction of the governmental energy supplies. This is combined with the resulting shift towards solar energy to assist the existing diesel generators supply within the continuous increase of energy production costs. Optima considers the case of Lebanon being one of the developing countries with the biggest gap in governmental energy supply from one side and one of the highest solar systems adoptions within the past few years. This work presents Optima, a real-time data logging scheme mapped with adequate data monetization linked with needed automation for the ultimate energy utilization. Optima has been implemented and tested in Deir Kanoun Al Nahr town in the South of Lebanon integrating both data monitoring as well as monetization and automation.
