Information Technology Solutions in the Romanian Tree Inventory Research: A Review

This paper aims to provide a wide overview of the Romanian tree inventory publications, especially those focusing on the information technology (IT) solutions applied in this field during the last two decades. Accordingly, we are investigating the publications on artificial intelligence and machine learning models, algorithms and software, as well as on computational intelligence and biodiversity. In addition, we are interested on the environmental methodologies applied in these publications like biodiversity and ecosystem services evaluations. We are also collecting data about the experiences of using remote sensed data, different algorithms, methodologies and hardware in forestry publications that possibly could be used in our further research. Our paper shows that even software originally used for different occasion like CDendro for dendrochronological studies have the possibility to get involved in urban forestry research.
