IoT-Based Fall Detection and Airbag Deployment System for Enhanced Elderly Care Using NodeMCU ESP8266 and MPU6050 Sensor

The aging population faces significant risks from falls, often leading to fractures, head injuries, and extended hospitalization. To mitigate these dangers, an integrated solution combining fall detection and an airbag protection system is proposed using NodeMCU ESP8266 and the MPU6050 sensor. The system accurately detects falls, generates alerts, provides notification messages, and tracks the location in real time. Upon fall detection, it also triggers an airbag that inflates via an inflation pump to minimize the impact on critical body parts. The proposed model achieved 93 % accuracy and 95 % sensitivity, demonstrating its reliability in enhancing safety and improving the overall well-being and quality of life for the elderly.
