SLS: A novel RFID based Smart Locking System

Traditional key-based locking systems are progressively being replaced by more effective and cutting-edge technological solutions in the security and access control domain. The design and installation of a smart locking system using an Arduino Uno microcontroller, solenoid lock, relay module, and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) card authentication is proposed here. The system’s goal is to offer a practical and safe access control solution that can be used in a variety of settings, including offices, homes, and factories. RFID cards are used for user authentication in the planned Smart Locking System. An individual RFID card programmed with particular identification information is provided to each authorized user. The Arduino Uno microcontroller processes the information on an RFID card presented by a user and compares it to a database of approved users. The solenoid lock mechanism on the door or access point is activated by the system after a successful authentication, thereby triggering the relay module. The Smart Locking System’s key characteristics include its capacity to store and manage several user credentials, offering scalability and flexibility to meet changing access needs. The system also has real-time monitoring features that let administrators effectively manage user permissions and keep tabs on access occurrences. The system’s low cost, ease of customization, and compatibility with a variety of sensors and peripherals are guaranteed by the use of the Arduino Uno microcontroller. While the relay module enables smooth integration with the locking mechanism, the solenoid lock provides strong physical security. To sum up, the Smart Locking System described in this paper offers an affordable and dependable way to integrate RFID card identification with access control. Its adaptability, scalability, and ease of use make it the perfect option for boosting convenience and security in a variety of settings.
