Calibration of Harmonics and Flicker Analyzers in Conjunction With En61000-3-2 and En61000-3-3.

EMC standard EN61000-3-2 [1] imposes limits on the current harmonics drawn from the mains supply by an electrical appliance. This standard requires that appliances be type-tested to ensure that they meet the requirements in the standard. The related “Flicker” standard EN61000-3-3 [2], regulates the voltage changes and fluctuations induced by a given appliance connected to the mains supply. Analyzer instruments are used to make the compliance tests associated with these standards. To have confidence in the measurements, it is important that the analyzer used is calibrated. This paper describes the system that has been recently developed at NPL for the calibration of these analyzers.
