Increasing the Heat Resistance and Reducing the Flammability of Reinforced Plastics Used for Electroengineering Purposes

Investigations were carried out to study hot-curing epoxy polymer composite materials (PCM) and reinforced plastics based on them to increase their heat resistance, reduce their flammability and to establish the possibility of their use for electrical engineering. Structuring processes, a number of physical and mechanical properties, chemical resistance and atmospheric resistance of PCM and reinforced plastics, and also the electrical properties of materials depending on the chemical nature of hardeners and dispersed fillers in the composition of composite materials have been studied. It was established that the addition of certain hardeners to the composition of polymer compounds and the combination of epoxy compounds with some dispersed fillers enable the production of composite materials with new physicochemical, technological and operational properties. The developed PCM and reinforced plastics can be recommended for the manufacturing of the products used for electrotechnical purposes (insulators for high-voltage power lines, profiles for dry transformers, equipment elements for the structures with an increased risk of electric shock, etc.).
