Degradation Modeling and Remaining Useful Life Assessment Based on the Hougaard Process

To address the uncertainty issues arising from model selection in remaining useful life prediction based on degradation models, this study proposes a remaining useful life prediction method utilizing the Hougaard process. Firstly, we simplify the model using saddlepoint approximation. Next, we derive the remaining useful life expression based on Birnbaum-Saunders (B-S) estimation. Finally, we solve for parameters through maximum likelihood estimation. Case analysis demonstrates that the proposed model can significantly enhance the accuracy of remaining useful life assessment while reducing maintenance costs.
