Four-Axis Computerized Numerical Control Milling of Flanges at Both Ends of the Piston Cylinder Housing

To address the issues of low processing efficiency and poor processing accuracy in the three-axis milling of the flanges at both ends of the piston cylinder housing, this paper adopts a four-axis milling method. First, a milling-specific fixture was designed for the piston cylinder housing. Next, the four-axis milling process of the flanges at both ends of the piston cylinder housing was developed and validated by computerized numerical control simulation. Finally, the four-axis milling of the flanges at both ends of the piston cylinder housing was achieved through machining experiments. The experimental results show that the four-axis milling of the piston cylinder housing effectively solves the problems of low processing efficiency, poor processing accuracy, and the tendency to produce joint marks in the flange processing at both ends of the piston cylinder housing.
