Enhancing the Performance of Bidirectional DC-DC Push Pull Converter with RC Snubber Circuits for Electric Vehicle Applications

This paper presents a detailed analysis of the integration of an RC snubber circuit in a Bidirectional DC-DC Converter (BDC) with galvanic isolation. The proposed topology addresses critical challenges such as voltage spikes and efficiency losses in energy transfer between Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Energy Storage Systems (ESS). Experimental results reveal that the RC snubber effectively reduces voltage spikes from 68V to 16V and improves system efficiency by up to $\mathbf{1. 4 6 \%}$ in EV-to-ESS (mode 1) and ESS-toEV (mode 2). This study underscores the significance of snubber circuits in enhancing the reliability and operational stability of BDCs for sustainable energy infrastructure.
