IOT-based Automatic Fish Feeding System

Aquaculture industries often encounter numerous challenges in feeding their aquatic livestock as they rely on the traditional feeding approach, which can be costly due to the high expenses associated with manpower. This paper proposes an Internet-of-Things (IoT)-based automated fish feeding system designed to optimize feed management, reduce waste, and promote sustainable aquaculture practices. The system integrates both hardware and software components, including sensors for measuring environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, feed levels, and feeding schedules, ensuring accurate and consistent operation. Real-time data monitoring and control are achieved through the Firebase platform and web apps allowing remote access and automation of feeding routines. The servo-driven feeding mechanism opens and closes the feeder based on predefined schedules, with feedback loops to track feed consumption levels. The Preliminary results of the system demonstrates enhanced monitoring capabilities and operational efficiency. This paper also offers a cost-effective and sustainable solution, enabling aquaculture operators to minimize labor requirements, optimize feeding schedules, and improve livestock management, ultimately contributing to the productivity and sustainability of the industry.
