Cascaded Calibration Method for High Resolution Automotive Radar

Beamforming technology plays a crucial role in autonomous driving systems, enhancing the target resolution and positioning accuracy of array radars. However, array radars often suffer from various errors due to weather and environmental conditions, which significantly affect the performance of digital beamforming algorithms. To solve this issue, a cascaded calibration algorithm without the accurate calibration sources and rotation information, capable of effectively estimating gain-phase error, is proposed. This algorithm ensures that the calibrated array beam closely aligns with the desired direction, addressing the calibration residual issues in existing algorithms. Finally, simulation experiments indicate that the method can effectively and stably calibrate arrays with gain-phase error even under conditions of low SNR, small snapshots, and limited array elements.
