Design and Simulation of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor for E-Vehicle Application

The advancement of electric vehicle (EV) technology is vital for achieving sustainable transportation and minimizing ecological impact, which demands highly efficient and reliable propulsion systems. Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs) have arisen as a preferred choice due to their high-power density, efficiency, and torque characteristics. This paper presents a study on design and simulation of PMSMs specifically tailored for EV applications using SIEMENS software. The study begins with a detailed design methodology that encompasses the selection of appropriate motor parameters, materials, and geometric configurations. Utilizing SIEMENS advanced simulation tool, the performance of the PMSM is analyzed across various operational conditions, including different load scenarios and thermal environments. Key performance metrics such as torque density, efficiency, and thermal management are evaluated to ensure optimal motor performance. The simulation results provide valuable insights into the motor's behavior under real-world conditions, highlighting areas for potential improvement and optimization. This work aims to enhance the understanding of PMSM performance in EV applications and contribute to the development of more efficient and reliable electric propulsion systems.
