Realtime Alcohol Detection and Engine Locking System with ESP8266

Alcohol consumption is the leading cause of traffic accidents. Existing systems for detecting alcohol levels rely on a physical breathalyzer by law enforcement, which can be slow and labor-intensive. This project presents an automated system that consist of alcohol sensor, ESP8266 microcontroller, and LCD which locks the vehicle when alcohol is detected in the breath of the driver. With the help of MQ3 alcohol sensor, it can detect an alcohol particle around 2 meters and is used for different vehicles. This provides a no-touch, high-assurance alcohol sensor paired with an engine-locking solution to automatically improve road safety without requiring a police presence.
