A Study of Switching Authority for Backup Disk in Main Control Room of Nuclear Power Plant

The basic design objectives of main control room of nuclear power plant are to provide the operator with timely, accurate and complete information on the functional status of the plant equipment and systems, with consideration given to the optimization of the tasks and the minimization of the workload required for supervising and controlling the plant under all operating conditions. In order to achieve these goals, monitoring and control systems based on analog technology were designed for nuclear power plant in the early years. With the widespread use of computer technology in industrial systems, computer-based monitoring and control system was introduced in nuclear power plant. However, since the reliability of the computer system is not sufficiently tested in nuclear power plant, a backup monitoring means based on analog technology, i.e., a backup disk, was set up, which coped with the possible failure of the computer monitoring method. In this paper, we shall study the two different methods of authority management for switching computer monitoring methods and backup disk monitoring methods, and finally, from the point of improving the reliability of instrumentation and control system, we shall determine the authority switching scheme of computer monitoring methods and backup disk monitoring methods in the main control room of the new construction nuclear power plant, and clearly provide the human factors risk matters which should be paid attention to.
