Design and control of a cable winding device for controlled tension loading

Cable winding devices are becoming increasingly widely used in aerospace applications. In this study, a cable winding device consisting of a pulley set, a tension sen sor assembly, a buffer assembly, and a winch assembly is designed. The controlled tension loading of cables is achieved by combining cable winding devices with a controlled tension control system, which enables the loading of autonomously controllable tension on cables, equivalent to adding load to cables to simulate some special scenarios. The cable winding device realizes the real-time measurement of the cable tension through the tension-measuring component, and the stability of the tension-measuring component under the maximum load is investigated through finite element simulation of key components. In this paper, based on the design of the controlled tension control system, the experimental platform of the controlled tension control system is built. Firstly, the real-time loaded tension is regulated by feedback using the PID algorithm as the control strategy. Then, the optimal PID control parameters are found through Simulink simulation, and feed-forward compensation control is introduced. Finally, controllable tension loading experiments are conducted on the cables to verify the performance and stability of the system.
