A Smart Hand Glove for Effective Communication of Deaf and Dumb People in Local Language

Effective communication for people with speech impairments remains a significant challenge in our society. This project addresses the need for improved accessibility and inclusivity by developing innovative solutions for individuals with speech impairments. Specifically, the focus is on creating a solution that facilitates effective communication between the speech-impaired community and the public, grounded in the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to express themselves and engage meaningfully in all aspects of society.This initiative aims to bridge the communication gap between the deaf and mute community and the public through an innovative IoT-based smart glove. The glove is equipped with gesture recognition sensors, a microcontroller, and a speaker to translate sign language gestures into spoken language, facilitating real-time communication. Flex sensors accurately capture hand movements and gestures commonly used in sign language, transmitting data to a microcontroller that processes the gestures using predefined code. This IoT-based smart glove serves as a portable and accessible communication aid, fostering inclusivity and enabling seamless interaction between the deaf and mute community and individuals unfamiliar with sign language. In this implementation, we are using Telugu as the local language for the glove’s output, further enhancing its relevance and usability for the regional population.
