Carrier-based PWM Control Strategy for Y-source Two-Stage Matrix Converter

The Y-source two-stage matrix converter (YSTSMC) can effectively increase the voltage transfer ratio. However, the space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) that adopted is complicated and difficult to implement, a carrier-based PWM strategy for YSTSMC is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the SVPWM strategy is used as the theoretical basis to calculate the duty ratios of the rectifier stage and the inverter stage, and are arranged symmetrically after the combination. The obtained duty ratios are respectively substituted into the same carrier to obtain the corresponding modulation waves. Then the shoot-through states are reasonably inserted into the zero vectors, which not only ensure the boost performance but also reduce the number of modulation waves. The pulse signals are obtained by comparing all modulation waves with the same carrier, and then the driving signals of each power switches can be obtained through logic operations. Finally, the above theoretical analyses are verified through experiments, and the results show that the modulation strategy is scientific and effective.
