A Study on the Analysis and the Operation of a Single-Input/Double-Output Buck-SEPIC Converter

This paper represents the analysis and operation of a single-input/double-output DC/DC converter (SIDOC) at continuous conduction mode (CCM). The proposed converter is obtained by adapting a buck converter and a SEPIC converter to a half-bridge cell. This converter produces two positive voltage levels at outputs and offers a step-up/down function along with a step-down operation. The input current is continuous, which helps preserve the input source useful life and is demanded for fuel cells and batteries. Reducing the number of components is another advantage of this topology compared to similar designs. Also, both outputs have common grounds. Regarding the converter features, the introduced topology is suitable for fuel cell, residential, and EV auxiliary power supply applications. Theoretical calculations are done using state-space analyses and the averaging method for CCM operations. Finally, the calculations are validated by simulation using the MATLAB-Simulink.
