Power-Hardware-in-the-Loop Emulator for Rotor Inter-turn Faults of a Wound Rotor Induction Machine

This paper emulates the rotor inter-turn fault of a wound rotor induction machine. For the emulation of rotor inter-turn faults, a more accurate mathematical model is developed by overcoming the limitations of existing models in the literature. The proposed model is simulated using Simulink. Experimental tests are conducted on a physical machine with different fault percentages. Using a power hardware-in-the-loop emulator test setup, rotor inter-turn faults are emulated. Practical emulation results are validated with the experimental tests of the wound rotor induction machine.
