Soft Switched MEMS Power Relay Using a Resonant Auxiliary Circuit

This paper proposes a parallel resonant soft switching auxiliary circuit that enables zero voltage turn-on and zero current turn-off of microelectromechanical switches. This provides a scalable soft switching method that is practical for emerging higher power rating switches compared to existing bypass approaches. Analytical, simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the operation of the proposed circuit in different modes of operation.
