Optimal Economic Dispatching Approach of Electrolyzers to Participate in Power Ancillary Service Based on Dynamic Physical Verification

This study aims to enhance power system flexibility and address the variability of renewable energy by involving diverse market participants in dynamic power regulation. To achieve this, an optimal economic dispatch strategy is proposed, using an iterative method that combines economic optimization with dynamic physical verification to guide the participation of electrolyzers in frequency regulation ancillary services. Case studies demonstrate that this approach maximizes the complementary strengths of alkaline (ALK) and polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolyzers, both known for their high power flexibility, in managing ancillary power services. The results confirm that this coordinated strategy not only optimizes regulatory performance but also improves the overall economic efficiency of power systems integrating green hydrogen production.
