Efficient Li-Fi based Tollgate System with Solar Power and Automation for Seamless Transactions

The motivation behind developing a Li-Fi-based toll collection system stems from the need to modernize vehicle communication and ensure efficient and contactless information exchange between vehicle and tollgate. The problem lies in the current limitations of toll collection, which relies on outdated radio or manual signaling methods. These methods may not provide energy harvesting and timely communication during emergencies. To address these challenges, a Li-Fi-based toll collection system is proposed. This system utilized Light Fidelity (Li-Fi) technology, which uses visible light to transmit data wirelessly using Arduino Nano, ESP32 microcontroller, and a solar panel are integrated to ensure seamless, contactless communication. The Arduino Nano handles the input system, gathering data of vehicle number. This data is transmitted via a light-based communication channel to a toll collection point, where a solar panel is the receiver. The ESP32 module processes the data, ensuring secure and energy-efficient operation. Real-time feedback is provided through an LCD for easy monitoring. The results of this approach demonstrate that Li-Fi technology offers a faster, more reliable, and more secure communication system compared to traditional radio or manual methods.
