Multifunctional Elbow Pads, an Alternative for Smart Cities

In this article, a safety system is proposed for a pair of multifunctional elbow pads. The elbow pads integrate LED lights for continuous alert and to indicate changes in direction. In addition, they provide protection, comfort, and flexibility to motorcycle and bicycle users, thus being an alternative design for developing smart cities. In their construction, the elbow pads include, in their mechanical design, resistant, high-impact materials to cushion possible physical blows from the user. The use of laminated polyurethane offers protection against water for electronic components. The proposed alternative uses Power Banks to power the electronic components. Finally, the results obtained improved user visibility, which has been one of the recommendations of the National Highway Traffic Security Administration for more than fifteen years.
