Evaluation and Implementation of Signage in Vulnerable Areas to Improve Pedestrian Road Safety in Lima, Peru

Pedestrian road safety in densely populated urban areas of Lima, Peru, represents a significant challenge. This study evaluates the effectiveness of road signage interventions on Las Begonias Street, an area with high rates of pedestrian accidents. Improvements were implemented in the signage and its impact on the safety of different road users was evaluated. The results showed a 36% improvement in pedestrian safety and a 4% improvement for cyclists, with no significant changes for motor vehicles. This study highlights the importance of adapting road safety strategies to local conditions and provides a basis for future research in similar contexts, underlining the need for comprehensive approaches to protect all road users in complex urban environments.
