Research and design of an intelligent aquaculture system based on narrowband internet of things technology

Nowadays, with the rapid expansion of the global aquaculture industry, traditional aquaculture methods are facing challenges such as low resource utilization efficiency and high environmental impact. This study focuses on the design and implementation of a smart aquaculture system based on NB-IOT (NarrowBand Internet of Things) technology, which realizes real-time monitoring and data transmission of aquaculture environmental parameters and effectively improves the stability of data transmission and low-power consumption characteristics. The study adopted a modularized design approach and developed three main modules for data acquisition, data processing and user interaction respectively. In the data acquisition module, a variety of sensors were designed to monitor key parameters such as water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and pH; the data processing module applied a cloud computing platform to store and analyze the data to support decision-making; and the user interaction module provided an intuitive interface so that the farmers could receive real-time system feedback and environmental alerts. Although there is some network latency (0-3 seconds), the system can still keep working at most moments. The practical application of this study shows that this system not only significantly improves the farming efficiency and reduces the environmental burden, but also enhances the predictability and controllability of the farming process through accurate data analysis support. In addition, the implementation of the system had a positive impact on reducing farming costs and improving the quality of farmed products.
